FLORIDA AQUARIUM::::OCEAN COMMOTION EXHIBIT DESIGN + ANIMATION

For the Florida Aquarium’s newest expansion that included animated characters exploring the personalities of the live sea creatures in the exhibit space, they reached out to Riley Animation to give them life and personality…I mean, who else are you going to go to when they’re always surfing and diving with these creatures across the world anyhow!?

Fun part was matching up the character’s biological traits to a definitive personality. Hence, he landed on designs for ‘Raldo’ the Shark (a Geraldo Rivera reporter type) , ‘Tony’ the Rhinopia (patterned after Tony Saprano) along with his Ninja shrimp minion, a curmudgeonly old General Crab character, ‘Mandy’ the Mandarin Fish, and ‘Nakita’ the equally alluring & deadly shark eating Octopus.

Kevin not only created the animations, but helped design the large exhibit spaces, filled with his large format artwork. A really fun project to work on, especially when visiting the Florida Aquarium and watching kids + adults alike interact and vote for their favorite characters:)
